Worcester’s favourite family panto is back in full swing and is a huge hit with audiences
1 January 2022
This year Worcester Theatres’ panto is none other than the tale as old as time… Beauty & the Beast; directed by Paul Milton and performed by the Worcester Reparatory Company. Since doors flew open on 30th November the Swan Theatre has had audiences flooding in to share in the delights of panto with their loved ones - and they are loving it!
Choice Radio Worcester gave it five stars and said
“If you are looking for an enchanting evening out with the family, with all you would expect from a panto, then you really only have to travel as far as the Swan Theatre”.
Theatre blogger and reviewer John Philpott had this to say after he watched Beauty & the Beast
“Worcester Rep has undoubtedly built on the city’s proud panto tradition to deliver a Christmas cracker of a show. This is indeed a show that explodes with talent!”
Feedback and comments have been pouring in from audiences since the panto began:
“Tonight's performance of 'Beauty and the Beast' was the most fun I've had in a long time. Every member of the cast larger than life and 100% committed”
“We all had a brilliant time watching (and dancing… and singing… and cheering…) at Beauty and the Beast today!”
"My son hasn’t stopped talking about Beauty and Beast… he came with his school and loved it!”
“Such a wonderful pantomime! Well done to EVERYONE involved!”
“It’s absolutely FABULOUS, beautiful music, casting!!! Fantastic scenery and tech!! Love the lights and pyros”
With just over half of the performances finished already Worcester Theatres’ family pantomime has had a fantastic run so far and they couldn’t be happier with the audience’s reaction.
Sarah-Jane Morgan, Chief Executive of Worcester Theatres and Executive Producer of Beauty & the Beast, said
“It’s been thrilling to see so many loyal patrons return to the Swan theatre this year with full houses at the majority of our performances proving that the support for the arts, culture and pantomime amongst our patrons is definitely alive and kicking.”
The general consensus appears to be that Beauty & the Beast has everything you could want from a great pantomime, and that audiences are glad to be back and having a whale of a time at the Swan Theatre.
