Brain Play

The Young Rep Company presents

Brain Play

by Chloƫ Lawrence-Taylor and Paul Sirett

“There’ve been twenty-eight Fridays since the Friday it happened.

That’s twenty-eight Fridays since the last day of my life that felt normal”

Mia is just a normal 15 year old, she likes reading books, hanging out with her friends and eating pizza. That is until 28 Fridays ago when her dad gets into an accident on his way home and suffers from a traumatic brain injury… suddenly Mia’s life doesn’t feel so 'normal'. Mia’s dad isn’t acting like himself, so Mia makes it her mission to find the cure and now needs to learn what words like Vestibulocochlear mean. Her friends rally around her and try their best to help, but how can they understand? Her battle isn’t just with the outside world and what’s happening, it’s with her own mind as well.

The Young Rep Company are incredibly excited to bring this thought-provoking play to life at the Swan Theatre as part of NT Connections. Exploring themes that affect us all, and using puppetry to help bring ChloĆ« Lawrence-Taylor and Paul Sirett’s story to the stage this is a show not to be missed!

Running time: Approx 60 mins

Content warnings: This play contains some strong language. Discussion of brain injury and the associate affects, anxiety, PTSD, obsessive compulsive disorder and mental health.
