Pantomime cast for Cinderella at the Swan Theatre visit Worcester!

14 October 2022

As the curtain closes on summer and the season begins to change, it can only mean one thing… it’s nearly time for panto! Worcester’s favourite family pantomime is back this year with the most popular panto there is – Cinderella. Each year the Swan Theatre welcomes over 16000 audience members through its doors for their panto, and this year they expect even more to join in the festive fun.

Despite trying and difficult circumstances last year the Worcester Repertory Company brought joy to thousands of Worcestershire’s patrons with the tale as old as time Beauty and the Beast, and this year they’re planning on making dreams come true in Cinderella.

Members of the Worcester Rep company visited the Swan Theatre recently to get into their glittery costumes and show off their fun and flamboyant characters. This year the Worcester Rep Company will be joined by Martha-Francis Henry as kind hearted Cinderella, Jack Cordingley as the charming Prince, Nathan Blyth as the lovable Buttons, Jess Elmer as the enchanting fairy godmother, Andy Watkins as the bumbling Baron and Aaron Corbett as the Prince’s right hand man Dandini. Of course, we can’t forget the two horrible and wicked step sisters, played by Worcester Rep regular and audience favourite Ian Parkin and Ian Good who’s also the director.

Not only has Ian Good worked in the West End and on national tours around the World, he’s also been involved in 47 pantomimes during his career. When speaking about this years panto Cinderella, Ian Good said

“I am very excited to be bringing this new pantomime to The Swan Theatre this Christmas season. This is a mile stone for me as it’s my 47th Pantomime, and I have a wonderful cast and creative team to help tell the beautiful story of Cinderella and it’s important message of 'be who you are’. The Swan is known for its traditional pantomime and that's exactly what you will get this year along with some surprises - I personally can't wait!”.

Pantomime is a beloved and rich part of British history and culture, for so many of us it’s impossible not to respond to the words of “Oh no it isn’t” without involuntarily saying “Oh yes it is”, and for hundreds of thousands of families up and down the country it’s a cherished tradition every Christmas.

Sarah-Jane Morgan, CEO and Artistic Director of Worcester Theatres, said

“I have such fond memories of attending Cinderella as a child, it is one of the most iconic pantomimes and such an enchanting story. I am really looking forward to making the sparkle and magic happen this Christmas for all our loyal patrons, and hopefully many new ones, by continuing to offer Worcester Rep’s high quality traditional family friendly pantomime. You shall go to the ball!“.
